FAQ

What is morning time?

Morning time is simply an intentional time of connection with our children that sets the energetic tone for the rest of the day; it is a time to align with the shifting seasons and lean into their goodness in poetry, story, and song.

What is a morning basket?

A morning basket is full of goodness, of things that delight the senses, spreading a beautiful feast of treasures for a young child to enjoy. Books, music, songs, fingerplays, poetry, puppet stories and more. This is what our basket contains. I couldn't find anywhere, a complete, seasonal, easy to follow, plug-and- play morning basket bundle of content, especially for a caregiver who might be new to home education, and is overwhelmed in thinking about where to begin... so I started putting together my own. I'm so excited to share this content with you!

What’s included in the morning basket guide?

An in-depth introduction to using this guide, an appendix rich with resources, 4 seasonal puppet stories, 2 seasonal songs, 2 seasonal fingerplays, artist and composer study, poems, and a memory verse or quote.

What’s the difference between the secular and Christian guide?

The Christian guide prompts you to read a bible story or devotional, while the secular guide prompts an affirmation. The Christian guide also includes a monthly memory verse, while the secular guide includes a monthly memory quote

For what ages is the morning basket?

Generally, the guide is set up to be used (with desired modifications) for ages 2.5-7. It is flexible enough to be used in a variety of ways at various stages of development.

How long does it take to get through the content?

Anywhere from 20-60 minutes, with the biggest variables being time spent on artist/composer study and read aloud. You’re also able to break up the content and use it throughout the day, as it best suits you (for example, we save our puppet story for later in the day).

Where do I print this guide affordably?

I highly recommend printing in color, as the guide is rich with colorful illustrations. While you can certainly do this at home, or a local print shop, the most affordable way to print and bind content like this is via a homeschool printing company:

Can I use the same guide every year?

Yes! The guides are written for a variety of early childhood ages, and is intended to be pulled out year after year.

Is this guide only for those educating at home?

Definitely not! No matter what form of schooling fits best for your child, this guide is a wonderful, seasonal resource to create rhythm and magic in your child’s life. It can be used before traditional school, after, or on weekends. Those who homeschool can use the guide as a morning time or circle time resource.

What else do I need to purchase to use this guide?

Potentially, nothing, but at minimum some modeling beeswax (more information in the appendix of the guide). You can check out bibles, devotionals, and read aloud books from the library, or opt to buy. You can purchase, borrow, or create your own affirmation and yoga resources.
